On the 8th of June, MORPHO participated in the “Circular aviation for green growth” online event organized by the project SUSTAINair in the frame of the European Green Week 2021 dedicated to “Zero pollution for healthier people & planet” to raise awareness about the circular economy solutions within the aviation ecosystem.
Project coordinator, Nazih Mechbal, presented MORPHO in the session “Research and innovation projects for circular aviation”, dedicated to showcasing research projects working on the development of key enabling technologies for circular aviation, expected to result in reduced resource consumption and emissions along the entire value chain, including production of aircraft, maintenance, and end-of-life solutions.
The full presentation in PDF format is available here.
The other projects part of the session were:
- DOMMINIO – Digital method for imprOved Manufacturing of next-generation MultIfuNctIOnal airframe parts
- SUSTAINair – SUSTAINablility increase of lightweight, multifunctional and intelligent airframe and engine parts
- ecoDESIGN® of Clean Sky 2
During this session, various aspects of aviation circularity were discussed, addressing future challenges and perspectives for the development of a completely green value chain of this sector.
Moreover, different stakeholders from business & research of the European aviation & aerospace sector, such as the Association of European Research Establishments in Aeronautics (EREA), the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE), AIRBUS, CleanSky Joint Undertaking, and Jet Maintenance Solutions, participated also in the event to discuss in a round-table format the meaning of circular economy in the sector and its different implications.
